Day Trips
Ullapool is an ideal centre from which to explore the spectacular scenery of the beautiful West Coast of Scotland. Numerous day trips are easily possible, offering relaxed driving, fantastic views and Highland hospitality.
The Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry operates a day trip to the Isle of Lewis, during summer months, which also includes a coach trip around the island.
Boat Cruises and Ferry trips
There are a variety of boat cruises to the Summer Isles, which allow you a view of marine wildlife, seals, porpoises and sometimes Minke whales, as well as colonies of sea birds.
Beaches
There are varied beaches within easy reach of Ullapool, whether you head North or South from the village. Some have sand dunes, others are pebble beaches. Gruinard Bay on the road to Gairloch is a particularly beautiful sandy beach, perfect for a picnic and a paddle or a relaxing stroll.
Walking, Cycling and Rock Climbing
Ullapool and the surrounding countryside is a haven for walkers cyclists and rock climbers of varying experience. There are many recognised routes available, offering fine views and wildlife watching as well as the sense of achievement gained on completion of a planned walk, cycle ride or climb.
